1. How quiet is the ZW module, and why does it run quieter than standard belt modules?

The ZW series uses a HTD-5M synchronous belt driven inside a semi-enclosed aluminum profile, combined with tuned idler tensioning. Compared with an open belt drive or a rack-and-pinion stage, the enclosed profile damps belt slap and air noise, while the tooth profile keeps meshing engagement smooth at speed. In typical installations on a workbench or inside a machine frame, the module operates at conversation-level noise, which is why it is frequently specified for laboratory automation, 3C electronics assembly and vision inspection stations where operators work right beside the equipment.

2. What accuracy and speed can I expect?

The ZW series delivers a repeatability of ±0.05 mm with guide pitches of 75 mm, 95 mm and 190 mm, and effective strokes selectable from 50 mm to 3800 mm. Travel speed reaches 1500–2000 mm/s depending on the guide pitch and load. In practice this covers the majority of pick-and-place, dispensing, screwdriving and inspection applications where micron-level positioning is not required but consistency and cycle time matter.

3. How long does the synchronous belt last, and what maintenance is required?

Belt life depends mainly on load, acceleration profile and duty cycle rather than a fixed calendar number. For typical pick-and-place duty, the HTD-5M belt is engineered for long service intervals; the maintenance routine itself is deliberately simple:

  • Weekly (visual): check for belt fray, unusual noise or visible dust accumulation on the profile.
  • Monthly: verify belt tension at the idler; adjust if tooth skip occurs during acceleration.
  • Quarterly: inspect the slider bearings and lubricate per the manual; clean the profile interior in dusty environments.
  • Annually: replace the belt if elongation or tooth wear is observed — belts are a consumable part and stocked for quick delivery.

Because the module is belt-driven, there is no ball screw to re-grease on a tight cycle, which reduces routine maintenance compared with screw-driven stages of the same stroke.
